CRYOTHERAPY WITH CRYOPEN®
Cryotherapy is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the precise application of extreme cold. The process is called cryo-necrosis, tissue destruction by freezing. Tissue destruction occurs when cells are low in temperature and at least -80F and ice crystals will form. The ice crystals will break the cell membrane, destroy cells organelles and protein matrixes. Water then rushes into the surrounding area causing blistering and disruption of the local blood supply.
CryoPen® is FDA approved and is an advanced cryotherapy device that delivers an ultra-cold jet of high-pressure nitrous oxide to freeze and remove skin lesions. Nitrous oxide destroys tissue by freezing the intercellular fluids and forming ice shards and crystals that raptures the cell membrane, thereby destroying the cell.
Because it delivers nitrous oxide directly to the lesion, and not the healthy surrounding tissue, it can safely treat lesions on the face and the area around the eye.
The CryoPen® device allows to work with millimetre precision for removing all benign skin lesions with no more collateral damage.
Cryotherapy with CryoPen® is a non-invasive treatment that is quicker than other treatments and you can be in and out in seconds. It requires no anaesthesia and has minimal scarring. There is no limitations on activity except to protect the area from damage or abrasion, you can work, bathe, swim, immediately after the treatment. There are not cuts, bleeding, sutures and risk of infection.
CryoPen® can treat the follow benign skin lesions:
-
Warts
-
Verrucas
-
Solar lentigines (age, sun and liver spots)
-
Actinic Keratosis
Most lesions will respond to a single treatment. However, some deeper lesions may take several aggressive treatments to get results. A follow up appointment will be needed at 2 week intervals to observe the results, and for further session if required.
