TEETH GRINDING AND JAW LINE SLIMMING
Teeth grinding, also called as Bruxism is an unconscious clenching of the teeth. It occurs mainly in the evening during sleep and can lead to physical pain, dental and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems.
Teeth grinding and jaw clenching not only has a negative impact on your teeth, but also increases the tension in the jaw increasing the likelihood of headaches and an increase in the size of the masseter (chewing) muscles that result in a widening of the jawline and a square appearance of the face. A square jaw is a feature that may not be desirable by all, especially in females. It can be due to bruxism or in some cases it can be a genetic trait
Treatment involves relaxing the muscles responsible for this action - relieving the tension and reducing muscle contractions. The injections used are similar to the anti-wrinkle injections (botulinum Toxin) and by injecting into the main jaw muscles that causes the bulk (the masseter muscles), the squareness of the jaw can be reduced significantly. The symptoms of bruxism will also be reduced.
