SYRINGOMA
Syringoma is a harmless overgrowth of cells in your sweat glands. They appear as multiple small, skin-coloured to yellow, rounded or flat-topped papules commonly seen around the eyelid area, but may appear on the face, chest, arm pit and around the genitals. Syringomas are usually asymptomatic
but may cause itching associated with sweating or when located on the vulva. In people with skin of colour, syringomas are yellowish, hypopigmented or hyperpigmented papules.
Key Characteristics:
-
Appearance: Skin coloured, white, yellow or hyperpigmented. They may appear translucent or cystic, solitary or occur in clusters, often symmetrically distributed.
-
Size: Typically 1-3 millimetres in diameter.
-
Location: Lower eyelids and cheeks are the most common sites.
Syringoma are benign and do not require intervention. Treatment of Syningoma is not available via NHS as it is considered cosmetic. At Astounding Skin Aesthetics we understand the discomfort and self-consciousness that Syningomas can cause. That's why we offer fast and painless removal using electrosurgery with Hyfrecator.
The procedure is quick and straight forward with no downtime and is unlikely to leave a scar. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care and achieving excellent results.
Dr Chowdhury will inspect your skin during the consultation and confirmed the diagnosis before attempting to remove it. He won't perform the removal if he doesn't deem it is safe to do so. A topical numbing cream may be required to numb the skin and minimise discomfort during treatment.
