TELANGIECTASIA
(THREAD VEINS)
Telangiectasia refers to the appearance of small, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin or mucous membranes. These visible vessels can appear as red, purple, or blue lines, often resembling spider webs or tree branches. -
Sun Exposure: Prolonged or intense sun exposure can damage blood vessels, leading to the formation of telangiectasia, especially on the face.
-
Hormonal Changes: Pregnancy, menopause, or the use of birth control pills can cause hormonal shifts that contribute to the development of telangiectasia.
-
Chronic Medical Conditions: Certain conditions, such as rosacea, scleroderma, or liver disease, can cause telangiectasia as a symptom.
-
Trauma or Injury: Any trauma that damages blood vessels near the skin surface can lead to telangiectasia, such as after a surgery or significant physical injury.
-
Medications: Some medications, including topical steroids or drugs that dilate blood vessels, may trigger the development of visible blood vessels on the
